Privacy policy
This policy explains what spectrum-outage.com collects and why. The short version: we collect as little as possible, we do not ask for your name or account details, and we do not sell anything to anyone.
What we collect when you submit a report
- ZIP code. The 5-digit code you type. We use it to place your report on the right city page.
- Service type. Whether internet, TV, phone, or all services are affected.
- Description. Optional free text. Please do not include personal details, account numbers, or your address.
- Timestamp. When the report was submitted.
- Hashed IP address. A one-way hash used only to enforce the five-reports-per-hour limit. We do not store your IP address itself and the hash cannot be reversed to recover it.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, street address, or Spectrum account information. We never ask you to sign in.
What is shown publicly
Submitted reports appear publicly in the live feed with the ZIP code, city, state, service type, your description, and a relative timestamp. Treat anything you type into the description as public.
Cookies and analytics
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and does not build a profile of you. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google servers and Google may log the request as part of delivering that file. No other third-party trackers are embedded.
Hosting and infrastructure
The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests to serve pages and may log request metadata for security and abuse prevention under its own policies. Report data is stored in a Cloudflare database.
How long we keep data
Individual reports are retained to build historical outage patterns. Hashed IP values are only meaningful for the one-hour rate limit window. Public displays cover a rolling 24-hour window.
Your choices
Because reports are anonymous, we usually cannot identify which one is yours. If you email help@spectrum-outage.com with the ZIP code, service, and approximate time, we will locate and delete it where we reasonably can.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above. Questions go to help@spectrum-outage.com.
